The context of Cultural and Creative Enterprises
CCEs help to revitalise local economies by encouraging the emergence of new economic activities, creating new jobs and increasing the tourist appeal of regions and towns. According to studies by Unioncamere and Fondazione Symbola in 2017, the Cultural and Creative Production System is worth 6% of the national GDP and boasts a multiplier of 1.8: for one euro of added value (nominal) produced by one of the activities in this segment, an average of another 1.8 is activated in the rest of the economy. In monetary terms, this means that the 89.9 billion euros produced in 2016 by the entire system can activate 160 billion euros, thus constituting a cultural chain, in the broadest sense, of 250 billion euros. Culture is also a driving force for the development of tourism, as more than a third (37.9%) of national tourism expenditure is activated by culture. From the point of view of employment, cultural and creative production employed about 1,495,000 people in 2016, or 6% of the country’s workforce.
To promote the creation and consolidation of cultural and creative enterprises with high growth potential in Friuli Venezia Giulia. In particular, this is one of the strategic objectives of the Autonomous Region FVG which, in 2018, in collaboration with AREA Science Park and the four certified regional incubators, launched a series of business acceleration and consolidation programs, specifically aimed at enhancing the high entrepreneurial potential of Cultural and Creative Enterprises in the region.
